Source of Revenue Increase:

Ignition interlock program fee established by this legislation.

 

Assumption:

The fee shall compensate the Department of Transportation for all the costs directly associated with operating the ignition interlock program.

  1. The department estimates it will cost $100,000 per year to operate the program.
  2. Currently, 1,010 individuals are enrolled in the program.
  3. The department estimates that the initial fee will be $99.00 per individual.
  4. Revenue based on the current participants would be about $100,000.
  5. The fee established by this legislation cannot exceed $150.00 per individual.

Revenue will vary depending on the number of participants in the program.

Source of Expenditure Decrease:

No longer diverting highway funds to help pay for ignition interlock program.

 

Assumption:

The establishment of the Ignition Interlock Fee and the associated Ignition Interlock Account will reduce expenditures from the State Highway Fund that currently subsidizes the ignition interlock program.
