Detail of Appropriation:
100 Series – Personal Services: Funds will be used to provide for a judge, judicial assistant, court reporter, and law clerk. These funds also provide payment of transcription fees to the court reporter and benefits for all court employees.
200 Series – Supportive Services: Funds will be used to cover the necessary operating costs for judicial services in Johnson County. It is anticipated that Johnson County will provide office space, as well as most furniture for the judge. However, in object code 0241, $11,100 is requested to provide desks ($2,900 each), chairs ($300 each) and file cabinets ($500 each) for the court reporter, judicial assistant, and law clerk. In the same object code, $5,000 is requested to provide laptops and external monitors for the judge and court reporter ($1,500 each) as well as desktop workstations for the judicial assistant and law clerk ($1,000 each). In object code 0242, $9,000 is requested to purchase a copier/fax machine for the office. All of the funds requested in object codes 0241 and 0242 are one-time requests.
400 Series – Central Services: Funds will be used to provide hardware/software support from the Department of Administration and Information.
900 Series – Contractual Services: Funds will be used to pay for a contract court reporter in the event the full-time court reporter is not available and for a court commissioner, if necessary. Funds in this series are also used to hire interpreters as needed.
