Catch Title:       Insurance fraud prevention.

Subject:           Immunity from liability for providing information on insurance fraud.

Summary/Major Elements:

· Current law provides immunity for persons providing information to the insurance commissioner about a potential violation of the insurance statutes if the information is provided in good faith and without fraudulent intent.

· This act extends that immunity to persons providing information to law enforcement agencies.  The act also extends the immunity to information about other criminal investigations.

· This act provides that a person providing the information described above may be entitled to an award of attorney’s fees if he is the prevailing party in a civil cause of action for libel, slander or any other tort action arising from the provision of the information.
