FISCAL NOTE
This bill contains an appropriation of $40,000,000 from the PERMANENT MINERAL TRUST FUND RESERVE ACCOUNT to the Municipal Solid Waste Remediation Account. This appropriation is effective immediately.
DETAIL OF APPROPRIATION
The Department of Environmental Quality will use the appropriation when the Legislature approves the priority list of eligible landfills. The appropriation is listed in the 800 series until it is determined if the Department of Environmental Quality or the individual community(s) will manage the landfill cleanup.

Assumptions:
The funds will be deposited in the municipal solid waste landfill remediation account and be used to contract with eligible entities, including contractors and local operators, to fund up to 75% of the cost of investigating contamination, the design and installation of monitoring and remediation systems and the operation and maintenance of monitoring and remediation systems for up to ten years.
