Anticipated Revenue Increase:

HIGHWAY FUND

196,875

196,875

196,875

Source of Revenue Increase:

Changing state registration fee from flat rate of $15 per house trailer to a variable fee based on unladen weight of house trailers with load carrying capacity.

Assumptions:

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) does not currently have statistics on the number of combination living/load-carrying house trailers registered in the state.  However, based on a survey of recreational vehicle dealers, the WYDOT estimates that approximately 12.5% of currently registered house trailers may be combination trailers with an average unladen weight of 10,000 pounds.

Since the state currently recognizes about 35,000 house trailers registered each year, the WYDOT estimates approximately 4,375 (35,000 x .125) of these trailers would fall within the fee requirements of this legislation.  At an average weight of 10,000 pounds, the estimated increase in revenue would be $196,875 ((unladen fee of $60 per trailer x 4,375 trailers) minus (current state fee of $15 per trailer x 4,375 trailers)) = $45 fee net increase per trailer x 4,375 trailers = $196,875.
