Description of Appropriation:

This bill contains two separate appropriations.  One appropriation ($500,000) is to be used to provide career and technical training grants to individuals looking for employment in specific careers based on workforce needs identified by the DWS.  The DWS will administer these grants according to rules and regulations of the agency.  The second appropriation ($50,000) is to cover costs of administering the grant program including career readiness testing, promotional, and technical assistance activities for the grants.

 

Assumptions:

The DWS will include this program within the agency's current training program regimen and locate the funds within a separate budget unit under the Administration and Support Unit of the agency.  Based on the appropriation and potential maximum amount of $1,600 per grant, there can be a minimum of 312 grants offered under this program.
