Summary/Major Elements:

· This act eliminates life sentences without the possibility of parole for crimes committed as a juvenile.

· The act also provides that a person sentenced to life imprisonment for a crime committed as a juvenile is eligible to be considered for parole after serving 25 years of incarceration.

· This act brings the state into compliance with United States Supreme Court decisions limiting the imposition of the sentences of life without parole and life without the opportunity of parole for crimes committed as a juvenile.
