Catch Title:                Wild bison licenses.

Subject:                      Adjusting fees for wild bison licenses and limiting the number of those licenses available in a lifetime.

Summary/Major Elements:

·         Wild bison licenses currently do not distinguish between male and female animals.  There are also no current limitations on how many wild bison licenses may be received in a lifetime.

·         This act distinguishes between “cow/calf” wild bison licenses and “any” wild bison licenses.  The act decreases the cost of a cow/calf resident license from $400 to $250 and a cow/calf non-resident license from $2,500 to $1,000.  Prices for “any” wild bison licenses remain the same.

·         This act limits future application for licenses as follows:

·         A person who is issued an “any” wild bison license who harvests a bull is ineligible to receive an “any” license in any future year, but may apply for a cow/calf license in the immediately following season;

·         A person who is issued an “any” wild bison license who harvests a cow or calf is ineligible to receive a cow/calf license in the immediately following five years; and

·         A person who is issued a cow/calf license who harvests a cow or calf is ineligible to receive a cow/calf license or an “any” license in the immediately following five years.

·         The act appropriates $250,000 to the attorney general’s office to be expended for the purpose of protecting or defending the rights of Wyoming citizens under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution to possess and use any firearm legal pursuant to Wyoming law and useful in hunting bison, including defending against any executive orders which would limit the ability of Wyoming citizens to hunt or manage bison.
