Subject:                     Falsely reporting and reporting nonemergency situations to 911 systems.

Summary/Major Elements:

· This act includes falsely reporting to a 911 system as an offense punishable as false reporting to a law enforcement agency.

· The act also creates a misdemeanor offense of knowingly reporting to a 911 system situations which the person does not reasonably believe requires prompt service in order to preserve or protect human life or property.

· The new offense is punishable by a fine of up to $750 and imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
