Catch Title:              County fees.

Subject:                     Increasing fees collected by county clerks.

Summary/Major Elements:

· This act increases various filing fees a county clerk may charge.  Some of the increased fees include those for:

· Filing a map when recording a deed or filing a plat map;

· Filing a marriage certificate;

· Filing liens and financing statements.

· Under current law, if a person presents a document for recording that is not sufficiently clear, the county clerk may require the person to produce a readable copy, or the county clerk may prepare a true copy by handwriting or typewriting a copy of the document.  This act eliminates the county clerk’s authority to create a true copy.
