Catch Title:              Athletic trainers-licensure.

Subject:                     Licensure of athletic trainers.

Summary/Major Elements:

· In 2009, the legislature authorized the licensing of athletic trainers.  Under that law, no person may use any card, title, letters, insignia or abbreviation to indicate that he is a licensed athletic trainer without being licensed.

· This act provides that a person may not use those notations to indicate that he is an athletic trainer at all unless he is licensed.

· Current law provides an exemption for persons serving as an athletic trainer for a school district.  This act limits the exemption to persons serving as a student athletic trainer for a school district.

· The current term of an athletic trainer license is three years.  This act changes that term to one year.
