Subject:                     Notification for transfer of prisoners to state penal institutions.

Summary/Major Elements:  This act:

· Provides that the department of corrections is not responsible for arranging for the transportation of prisoners to state penal institutions until ten (10) days after the sheriff notifies the department and the warden of the medium correctional institution or the women’s center that a judgment and sentence has been signed.

· Provides that a court shall immediately notify the sheriff after signing a judgment sentencing a prisoner to a state penal institution.
