· The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act is a federal law that regulates commercial drivers and commercial drivers’ licenses. Congress and the Federal Highway Administration alter the FMCSA every year through new laws and new rules.
· This legislation makes technical changes to Wyoming law to comply with changes to the FMCSA.
· This legislation renames commercial driver’s license instruction permits, amends the definition of “tank trailer,” alters renewal and waiting periods related to commercial drivers’ licenses, requires a driver to be 18 before receiving a commercial learner’s permit, amends skills tester requirements, specifies the physical form of permits, specifies when commercial driver’s license applicants are disqualified and requires background checks of persons who conduct commercial driver’s license testing for the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
