Catch Title: Natural gas state vehicles.
Subject: Expanding the state fleet of vehicles which operate on natural gas.
Summary/Major Elements:
· This act requires the state motor pool, state agencies responsible for their own vehicle fleets, the University of Wyoming and community college districts to purchase motor vehicles which operate on compressed natural gas (CNG) or CNG and gasoline or diesel if:
§ The motor vehicle will be stationed in an area currently served by a CNG filling station or an area which will be served by a CNG filling station within six months of the replacement date for the vehicle; and
§ The motor vehicle to be purchased is readily available in models which operate on CNG or on CNG and gasoline or diesel.
· A department or agency subject to this act is not required to comply with the act if:
§ The responsible department or agency determines that compliance with the act is unfeasible or economically impractical or appropriate CNG vehicles or fuel is not available.
§ The Governor may waive or reduce the requirements of this act if the responsible department or agency demonstrates a financial hardship.
Comments:
· Requires reports to the Joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development Interim Committee if an agency or department waives or reduces a requirement to purchase a CNG vehicle under this act.
· Has a sunset date of June 30, 2017.
