Catch Title:              State board of education-membership.

Subject:                     Modification of state board membership.

Summary/Major Elements:

· Prior to amendment, the law required the state board of education consist of thirteen (13) members, seven (7) of which were to be appointed in accordance with the districts under W.S. 9-1-218.  The remaining members consisted of the state superintendent, the director and four (4) appointments that reflect certain interest areas or qualifications.

· This act modifies the appointments made pursuant to W.S. 9-1-218, requiring rotation among the counties comprising the appointment district.

· Further, of the four (4) members appointed to represent certain interest groups, it requires one (1) member previously appointed to represent the private business or industry be appointed from the board of trustees of a Wyoming school district.

· The law provides the appointment of the board of trustees member shall commence upon the expiration of the term of a member appointed to represent private business or industry in Wyoming.
