Catch Title:              Professional licensing-military spouses.

Subject:                     Professional licensing for spouses of military members.

Summary/Major Elements:

·        This bill is meant to streamline the professional licensing process for spouses of active military members who practice a licensed profession and who are required to move throughout the country because of their spouse’s military service.

·        The legislation requires Wyoming licensing boards to issue a license to a military spouse where the spouse holds an active license, in good standing, from another jurisdiction which mandates substantially equivalent, or more stringent, licensing standards than does Wyoming.

·        In addition to paying required fees and complying with application procedures, the spouse must demonstrate competency in the occupation and must not have engaged in any act that would cause them to not be eligible for licensing in Wyoming.

·        The legislation provides an optional procedure for the issuance of a temporary license during the application process.  The temporary license cannot exceed 120 days.

·        Teachers, attorneys and any profession with prescriptive drug authority are not eligible for the streamlined process offered by this legislation.

·        The legislation applies to licensing applications filed on or after July 1, 2013.
