Subject:                     This bill modifies the criminal offense of threatening injury.

Summary/Major Elements:

· This act expands the offense of threatening injury.

· Currently, the law applies to telephone threats.  The act expands the law by including other electronic or written communications.

· The act also expands the offense by including threats of death to the person, the person’s immediate family or to anyone at the school in which the person is an employee or student as well as to threats of injury to the person, the person’s immediate family or to property of the person.

· The act provides a definition of “immediate family” for purposes of the offense.
