FISCAL NOTE

This bill contains an appropriation of $150,000 from the SCHOOL FOUNDATION FUND to the Department of Education.  This appropriation is effective immediately.

 

This bill contains an authorization of 2 full-time at-will (AWEC) positions for the Office of Homeland Security (OHS).

Description of appropriation:

The 200 series expenditures will support expenses incurred by the advisory committee, computer and office equipment, and travel/training by the new AWEC positions. The 400 series expenditures will support the telecommunication connectivity of the new AWEC positions. The 900 series will support the contracted services of expertise. The bill is effective immediately, and it is assumed that the hiring of the new positions and expert consultants would be contracted with as soon as possible.

Source of expenditure increase: 0100 series personnel/Benefit costs and 0200 series support services costs for 2 positions authorized in the bill.

 

Assumptions:

WOHS intends to use funding from the existing Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) received each fiscal year. No additional funding will be needed from the state. The federal portion will come from the existing 2013 EMPG grant and the 2014 EMPG grant which has not yet been awarded; however, funding is expected.
