Source of revenue increase:
Cigarette tax increase of $1.00 per pack, from $0.60 to $1.60 per pack of 20 cigarettes
Assumptions:
The first $4 million from this tax increase would be distributed to the Department of Health for comprehensive tobacco prevention, cessation and treatment programs.
The remainder would be distributed to the Department of Health for the Medicaid program created by title 42, chapter 4 of Wyoming statutes.
The above estimate is based on FY 2013 cigarette taxes, and assumes there will be no change in consumption.
Any additional fiscal or personnel impact is not determinable due to insufficient time to complete the fiscal note process.
