The fiscal impact to the Department of Corrections is indeterminable due to an unknown number of cases.

 

Source of Expenditure Decrease:

The cost for community supervision of an offender is approximately $2,000 per year. 

 

 

Assumptions:

There are no current measures that would allow for an accurate prediction of the number of individuals sentenced pursuant to the proposed legislation.  It is anticipated that the proposed legislation may result in fewer short-term misdemeanant offenders being placed on supervised probation.
