Summary/Major Elements:

· Under current law, coroners are required to meet continuing education requirements set by the board of coroners’ standards.  Under current law there is no enforcement mechanism to ensure those requirements are met.

· This bill requires the board to promulgate rules to provide for review of complaints that a coroner has failed to meet continuing education requirements.  The bill authorizes the board to notify the county commissioners if a county coroner has failed to meet the requirements.

· This bill authorizes the board to provide a system to offer continuing education programs.
