Catch Title:              Hathaway scholarship program-enrollment expansion.

Subject:                     Expands scholarship eligibility for the summer and other academic terms.

Summary/Major Elements:

· The act allows Hathaway Scholarship recipients to prorate total scholarship amounts based on attendance of summer school or other academic terms that are six (6) hours or less.

· The act also excludes eligible summer school or other academic terms from the student’s six (6) academic year limitation on scholarships and the student’s eight (8) or four (4) full-time semester equivalency limitation.

· Previously, the scholarship was unavailable to students attending less than six (6) hours.

Comments:

· Amends a major program: Hathaway Scholarship Program

· Delayed effective date:  Section 1 is effective July 1, 2014; Section 2 is effective immediately, allowing promulgation of rules and regulations to implement in the 2014-2015 academic year.
