Subject:                     Modifies membership of the miners’ hospital board and eligibility requirements for benefits from the miners’ hospital board account.

 

Summary/Major Elements:

 

·        Under current law, the county commissioners appoint to the state miners’ hospital board one member from both the Sweetwater County and the Campbell County memorial hospital boards.  The state miners’ hospital board recommends expenditures from the miners’ hospital board account.

 

·        This act allows the county commissioners to appoint residents of the county to the miners’ hospital board if members of the Sweetwater County or Campbell County memorial hospital boards are not willing and able to serve on the miners’ hospital board.

 

·        This act specifies eligibility requirement in order to receive benefits from the miners’ hospital board account, including that the recipient be a current resident of Wyoming and be domiciled in Wyoming on the date of application and the date of receipt of benefits.

 

·        This act specifies that benefits from the miners’ hospital board account shall be paid only after other available benefits for covered conditions.

 

·        The act modifies the definition of “miner” to exclude persons providing labor or services on an occasional or incidental basis.

 

·        The act repeals the section creating the state miners’ hospital legislative oversight committee that ceased to exist July 1, 2004.
