Summary/Major Elements:

· The act clarifies the definition of “daily support obligation” in computing a reduction in child support when the noncustodial parent has physical custody of a child for fifteen or more consecutive days.

· Currently the Department of Family Services may administratively suspend the driver’s license of a person who has failed to pay more than $5,000 in child support and who has not made a payment for at least three months.  This act clarifies that a full monthly payment must be made to avoid the driver’s license suspension.

· The act also clarifies that notice to payors, such as employers, may be made electronically if the payor consents.
