Administrative Rule Review Report  #AR11-030

Legislative Service Office

01-Jul-11

AGENCY:                                 Board of Coroner Standards.

DATE SUBMITTED:                   June 30, 2011.

SUBJECT:                                 Chapter 2, Minimum Standards for Employment.

NATURE OF RULES:                     Legislative.

STATUTORY AUTHORITY:         W.S. 7-4-211(c)(v).

DETERMINATION OF PROCEDURAL COMPLIANCE BASED UPON INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY THE AGENCY TO LSO:  Apparently complete to date.  No written comments were received.

SUMMARY OF RULES:  The change to the rules eliminates the requirement that deputy coroners or employees of a county coroner reside in Wyoming.  The change is in response to a request from Teton County.  Because the cost of living is so high in Teton County, many law enforcement officers reside in Idaho.  The change will permit the officers to be hired as deputy coroners.

FINDINGS:  The rules appear to be within the scope of statutory authority and legislative intent.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:  That the rules be placed on the consent list and approved by the Council as submitted.
