JOINT JUDICIARY INTERIM COMMITTEE

 

Standard Budget:     $47,500.00

Priority #: 1     Child Support

 

The Committee will review the child support tables and forms and consider the need for statutory revisions.

 

Priority #: 2     Prison Programs

 

The Committee will study issues related to inmates, with an emphasis on the prison industries program, prison health care costs and reimbursements for housing state prisoners.

 

Priority #: 3     Juvenile Justice

 

The Committee will continue its two-year study of juvenile justice issues and possible legislation addressing confidentiality, jurisdiction, and improvements to and costs of the juvenile justice system.  The committee will review potential expansion of circuit court jurisdiction to encompass juvenile proceedings, and will also review community juvenile service board expenditures.  [Study Modified by Management Council]

 

Priority #: 4     Eminent domain and regulatory takings

 

The Committee will review bonding requirements for seismic activities, eminent domain, the collector line suspension of eminent domain and regulatory takings issues. [Study Modified by Management Council]

 

Priority #: 5     Private transfer fees

 

The Committee will review the imposition of private transfer fees and further legislation in response to the deadline created in existing law.

 

Priority #: 6     Crime rate on Wind River Indian Reservation

 

The Committee plans to work in conjunction with the Select Committee on Tribal Relations to address issues with respect to the high rate of crime on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

 

Priority #: 7     Tentative Meeting Schedule

 

The Committee plans to hold three two-day meetings.  The Committee plans to hold one meeting in conjunction with the Select Committee on Tribal Relations on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
