JOINT CORPORATIONS, ELECTIONS AND POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS INTERIM COMMITTEE

Priority #: 1     Insurance

 

The committee proposes to study the following issues related to insurance:  Possible accreditation issues involving holding companies, foreign country insurers and certificates of insurance; portable electronic devices insurance.; and, if assigned, interstate sales of health insurance.[Deleted by Management Council. Sale of health insurance policies across state lines will be studied by the Joint Labor/Health Committee]

 

Priority #: 2     Public Service Commission

 

The committee proposes to study the following items related to telecommunications: regulatory treatment of voice over internet protocol; sunset of the office of consumer affairs; certified service territories for electrical utilities; and receipt of reports regarding ongoing changes in FCC regulation.

 

Priority #: 3     Secretary of State's Office

 

The committee proposes to study the following issues raised by the secretary of state's office: Effective financing statements - consideration of length of effectiveness of the liens and fees for filing; and with respect to elections - possible amendments to the election code to accommodate the military and overseas voter act.

 

Priority #: 4     Other agencies under the committee's purview.

 

The committee proposes to study the following topics:

 

1.  Low voltage electrical licensing statutes.

 

2.  Requirements for appraisal management companies under the federal Dodd-Frank Act.

 

3.  Legal advertising and publication requirements for local governments.

 

Priority #: 5     Tentative Meeting Schedule

 

The committee proposes three two-day meetings as follows:

Late April:  Cody, WY; August:  Saratoga, WY; October:  Cheyenne, WY
