JOINT CORPORATIONS, ELECTIONS AND POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS INTERIM COMMITTEE

 

Standard Budget:     $37,500.00

 

Priority #: 1     Public Utilities

 

1) Review Telecommunications Act which is set to sunset in 2015, including telecom issues (sunset date, prepaid 911 model legislation, sales/use tax exemptions for broadband, Telephone Assistance Program (TAP) issues, broadband grants);

2) Energy utility rate/issue monitoring.

 

Priority #: 2     Secretary of State

 

1) Election Law

  a) Special elections for federal offices;

  b) Referendum revisions/balloting process and restrictions-constitutionality;

  c) Special district formation requirements-property owners (downtown

      development districts, museum special districts);

  d) Election statutes and issues;

  e) Voting centers and electronic pollbooks (2014 House Bill 101).

2) Uniform Commercial Code –adoption of Articles 1 & 7 via a public/private task force.

 

Priority #: 3     Department of Insurance

 

1) Updating fine schedules;

2) Make whole legislation; [Deleted by Management Council]

3) Portable electronic device insurance and adjuster licensing;

4) Electronic delivery of insurance documents and notice to beneficiaries.

 

Priority #: 4     Electronic Records

 

1) Employers review of social media;

2) Social media accounts upon death.

 

Priority #: 5     Abandon Property

 

1) Electronic gift cards/gift certificates/credit memos.

 

Priority #: 6     Digital Information Privacy

 

The Committee will receive and consider the report and recommendations of the Task Force on Digital Information Privacy created by 2014 Wyo. Session Laws, Ch. 123. [Study Added by Management Council 9/3/2014]
