JOINT TRANSPORTATION, HIGHWAYS AND MILITARY AFFAIRS INTERIM COMMITTEE

Priority #: 1 Safety Issues and Energy and Economic Impacts on Infrastructure and Transportation

 

The Committee will study issues and receive reports and updates on subjects related to safety, infrastructure and transportation.

 

Priority #: 2 Military Department

 

1) Review Wyoming Youth Challenge Program; and

 

2) Study reemployment rights for National Guard members.

 

Priority #: 3 Veterans' Commission

 

1) Review statewide veterans' services that assist veterans with VA disability and pension claims;

 

2) Review military and veteran specialty license plates, including the authorizing statutes, eligibility criteria and the approval process; and

 

3) Study private sector protections for hiring and giving veterans' preference. and

 

4)  Utilization / benefit of veterans' service officers.

 

Priority #: 4 Wyoming Department of Transportation

 

1) Receive required reports from WyDOT and other updates on the department's COBOL computer system, WYOLINK and the Real ID Act;

 

2) Receive reports from the Division of Aeronautics on air service in Wyoming; and

 

3) Consider technology updates.

 

Priority #: 5 Title 31 of Wyoming Statutes – Motor Vehicles

 

1) Study, modernize and reorganize statutes related to traffic offenses and regulation;

 

2) Study, modernize and reorganize Chapter 13, abandoned vehicles; and

 

3) Study, modernize and reorganize statutes related to high value vehicle registration and tax compliance issues.

 

Priority #:  6  Aging Drivers

 

Study the need and means available to review aging drivers' eye sight and other driver qualifications, including consideration of the age at which such review may be advisable.
