Suite of contracts, working with AG. Working with wide variety of contractors for efficiencies and cost savings. Sommers: wasted money on school facilities perception McOmie: questioning status quo with staff in order to streamline processes; reviewing design guidelines. Sommers: cookie cutter schools, size related. McOmie: are doing prototype schools, outside not cookie cutter, square footage based Funding of major maintenance. Underfunded by 60%. 36 years would need to replace all school buildings. Based upon condition, not capacity, replacing schools faster than necessary. Hastert: major maintenance. McOmie: replacement value of buildings. Districts can spend up to 10% of maintenance on enhancements. 75 year life of building, not 50 years. Done about 25% update of assets in approximately 12 years. McOmie: every 4 years must perform inspection of facilities. Given facilities inspection condition number, prioritized. Same assessment on state buildings. Sharing personnel resources. Landen: Recommendation on work by School Facilities Commission, JAC set aside $800M last year. 2 projects put forward in Teton and Laramie Counties with 3 others. Page 7, priorities: legislative appropriated but not authorized; leases, planning, construction, unanticipated, emergency, demotion. McOmie: Carey Junior High is a capacity issue , use old Carey as swing space for 8 elementary schools which need to be built. Discussing handout 027-034, priorities. Landen: Next round Select Committee will focus on major maintenance. Sommers: how handle emergencies? Statute that defines and allows commission to deal with an emergency. Can get funding from another project, but money must be returned immediately as of 2016 session. Hastert: oversight on school facilities and state construction? Handled by project managers.
