Time Commitment
Legislative days often start early in the morning and run late into the evening during the session. Because the Legislature may adjourn early on Fridays so members can return to their districts for the weekend, interns should not schedule Friday as a day to spend onsite. Unless sufficient time is spent at the Capitol, it is difficult for the student to make a meaningful contribution or participate at an appropriate level. The LSO requires students to spend a minimum of 10 hours of onsite service per week through the duration of the session, unless other arrangements have been made between the academic institution and the LSO.
